Psychology Author of the Month

June 2016

Routledge, which was founded in 1836, is the world’s leading academic publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences, publishing thousands of books and journals each year serving scholars, instructors and professional communities globally.

Professor Beattie’s new book Rethinking Body Language, which was published this month, builds on the most recent cutting-edge research to offer a new theoretical perspective on body language that will transform the way we look at other people.

“I’m delighted to be Routledge’s Author of the Month for Psychology,” said Professor Beattie.  “There have some very eminent psychologists featured in this slot before, with some fantastic books.  Given how many psychology books Routledge publishes internationally, and given how prestigious this publishing house is, I take it as a great honour.  I hope that more people have a look at Rethinking Body Language as a result.  They may be surprised by how hand movements articulate underlying thoughts, and therefore what these movements can reveal when we look more closely.”

Professor Beattie is the author of 20 books and over 100 journal articles and has presented a number of television programmes. He is also a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Medicine and the British Psychological Society.
